I'm a big fan of the hard cheeses. Reminds me of my childhood eating hard gubment cheese out of a cardboard box. It's also a gorgeous day out in Oakland (not many left) so I hit B Restaurant on 9th and Washington for a BLT and a manchego cheese plate. B is fast becoming my go to semi-formal lunch spot in Old Oakland. Great sandwiches, pizzas, salumi plates, and cheese plates. Plus very reasonably priced for a spot of this caliber food (under $15 for sandwich + dessert + drink).
I'm having breakfast at the Chop Bar here on 4th and Alice in Oakland - new breakfast/sandwich place that opened up right across from our offices. So far so good. Good breakfast items and great croissants. Plus, free drip coffee on Mondays!
I'm hoping this place sticks around. The location has turned over a few restaurants in the time we've been in the area.
Just got back from the Eat Real Festival in Jack London Square. It was way too hot and way too crowded (good for Oakland, bad for us). Friday was a much better day to go even if there was no savory food vendors setup. Not as hot and not as crowded. Anyway, ice cream and beer - what more do you need?
The past few days were pretty rough food-wise as we didn't have time to really explore the cities we were in (Baltimore and San Diego). Every meal was pretty much based on what was open late at night (when we usually arrived) and/or what was in the immediate vicinity of where we were at. My flight from San Diego landed in Oakland at 2:45pm and the first thing I did was get a bowl of noodles. Ahhh...
